Thin Air Trekking & Expeditions (“Thin Air”, “we”, “us”) organises treks and mountain expeditions from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do with it. If you have any questions, write to us at info@thinairtrips.com.

What we collect

  • When you contact us through a form on this website, by email, by WhatsApp or through a form on Facebook or Instagram: your name, email address, phone number, the trip you are interested in and anything else you choose to tell us.
  • When you book a trip: the details we need to organise it, such as passport details for permits, visas and flights, date of birth, emergency contact, dietary requirements, travel insurance details and any health information you decide to share with us so we can keep you safe on the mountain. We only use health information with your consent and only for your safety on the trip.
  • When you browse this website: usage data collected through Google Analytics cookies, such as the pages you visit, how long you stay and the type of device you use. It does not tell us who you are; we use it to understand how the website is used and to improve it.

How we use it

  • To answer your questions and send you the information you asked for.
  • To prepare, book and run your trip.
  • To meet legal and administrative obligations, such as issuing invoices.
  • To send you news about upcoming trips, only if you have asked to receive it. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We use your information because you asked us to (to answer you or to run your booking), because the law requires it (for example, invoices) or because you agreed to it (news about trips, analytics cookies, health information). You can withdraw your consent at any time.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

  • The local operators, guides, hotels and transport companies that run your trip, and the authorities that issue the permits and visas it needs. They only receive what they need for that purpose.
  • The service providers that help us run our business, such as our website hosting, email, analytics and messaging tools (including Google and Meta, which owns WhatsApp).
  • Rescue services, hospitals and your insurance company, if you need help during a trip.

Some of these companies are located outside the country where you live. When we transfer your information abroad, we only share what is needed and we work with established providers.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to answer you or to run your trip, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep records, for example for accounting.

Cookies

This website uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and to remember your language. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the website will still work.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it or to stop using it for marketing. Write to info@thinairtrips.com and we will reply within one month. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights given to you by data protection law (GDPR and UK GDPR), including the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
