Arrive fit for your trip
You don’t need to be fit to book. Tell me which trip you’d like to do and I’ll help you get there strong enough to enjoy it.
Three simple steps
Tell me about your trip
Where you’re going, when you leave, what exercise you do now and how many days a week you can train.
I design your plan
Training and nutrition guidelines built around you, your week and the time left before departure.
You start training
With enough time to build up distance and elevation gradually, with no last-minute rush.
Every trip needs different preparation
Treks and peaks
Back-to-back days walking uphill and at altitude. Endurance is what counts most: legs that keep going day after day and a heart used to working for long hours at an easy pace.
High-altitude expeditions
Over 6,000 metres, several weeks on the mountain and a summit day that can last more than 12 hours. You need more volume and more strength, and it pays to start early.
Every plan is tailored to your age, your trip, your fitness and your training background.
What we work on
Training
Endurance, leg and core strength, and hikes with a loaded pack so your body gets used to the weight. All adapted to your schedule and where you can train.
Nutrition
What to eat while you prepare, and how to fuel and hydrate during the trip, when altitude takes your appetite away.
Altitude
Advice on acclimatisation, rest and hydration, based on what I’ve learned climbing mountains and running these trips. For altitude sickness or any medication, always check with your doctor. More on altitude sickness.
I’m Isa
I’m a qualified personal trainer and sports nutrition coach, and I design and organise every Thin Air trip. I’ve summited Elbrus, Kilimanjaro and Ojos del Salado, and in 2024 I organised an expedition to an unclimbed peak in Zanskar, in the Indian Himalaya.
So when I tell you what to train, I know what you’ll face up there.
No trip booked yet?
I also create plans for people who want to get mountain-fit, even without a date in mind.
Common questions
Do I need to be fit to book a trip?
No. What matters is how much time you have before departure and starting as soon as you can. When you get in touch, we’ll check whether the timing works for the trip you have in mind.
How far in advance should I start?
It depends on your trip, your current fitness and your training background. When you get in touch, I’ll tell you how much lead time you need.
Is it included in the trip price?
No, it’s an optional extra you can add to any of our trips.
Shall we start?
Message me on WhatsApp, tell me which trip you have in mind and when you leave, and I’ll explain how we’d prepare for it.
