Yoga, Sound Healing & Meditation Retreat in Nepal: What to Expect

In Nepal, time seems to move differently. Between Buddhist and Hindu temples, with the mountains always in the background, there is an ashram where the day is built around breathing, not the clock. That is the setting for the yoga, sound healing and meditation retreat: a few quiet days, away from Kathmandu, with no packed schedule and no big groups.

Less than an hour from Kathmandu

The ashram is less than an hour’s drive from the city, so the first day already counts: you arrive, settle in, and you’ve already left the traffic and noise behind. The place itself is humble — a private room, vegetarian meals, not much more — and that simplicity is part of what makes it work: there’s nothing around to distract you.

Led by the ashram's own monks

What sets this retreat apart is who runs it: the sessions are led by the ashram’s own monks, not a team brought in for the occasion. They combine yoga, kundalini meditation and sound healing — deep rhythms and vibrations meant to slow the mind down, with no claims of healing — along with a guided reiki and relaxation session, Buddhist philosophy talks, dynamic meditation and a tarot reading. These are days of full immersion, no phone and no agenda beyond this, and what people usually notice on the way back is sleeping better and having a clearer head. On the last day, before flying out, there’s a guided visit to Patan and Boudhanath, or the Monkey Temple.

You can extend the trip

The retreat works on its own, with two nights at the ashram and one in Kathmandu, but it also works as the close of a longer trip through Nepal. To keep going afterwards, Pokhara carries the same spirit — a lake, some yoga, local culture, without the intensity of a trek. See Pokhara Lake, Yoga & Culture Tour.
